Hello Beyonce! House of Deréon at Selfridges
By a complete accident I stummbled across this on youtube whilst watching beyonces music videos.
What I like about this show is that most of the tribal inspired catwalk shows (with the hair and makeup) are very samey and repetitive whereas this one in particular (esspecially with the hair styling) is quite varied.
The model at 4 minutes 30 is wearing a tied and braided head scarf around her head with it draping down one side of her body. I have been thinking about incorporating a big thick plait with some fabrics running through it... In my drawings earlier, most of my girl models have had either a huge long plait or a head piece on made of feathers. I'm now thinking if I could skip on the head piece for my catwalk and just include fabrics or beads to create textures through the models hair instead.

I think this catwalk is stunning. The hair in particular, with the hair colours and paint which aren't just restricted to the hair line but blend into the face. Even though the hair isn't coventional and pretty, the combination of all the styling as a whole looks stunning. I love the girls hair at 3 minutes and 39 seconds which looks animal like with a horn shape woven inside her hair pieces. The colour and texture is similar to the one which I have shown on my previous post of the Namibia Tribe but it more golden bronze.
This is one of my favourite catwalks for hair I have seen throughout my research for this project.

I also like the statement cheeks but it's far too clashy clash for me. I think the whole catwalk look looks very messy and TOO over the top which is what I am aiming to steer clear from.
Although I have to admit, all of the hair designs and head pieces are amazing on the catwalk, essecially the fan-like head pieces. I noticed that all of the hair on all the models was scraped back into a high pony tail away from the face and that gave it a very hard edge which I liked.
I have a head ache after watching this three times...
