My first drawing…
The eyebrows were inspired by the patterns on the B&W image of the fulani girl. I thought I’d play around with patterns on the face and see what I like. This was my first final drawing. I’m not too keen on it as a whole (ignore the clothes fashion illustration is defo not my forte!) but I like aspects of it such as the arrows on her neck. This is mirroring tattoos on their bodies and I added smaller ones on her chin and nose. I wanted to highlight the shape of the face with pattern as the tribes I have seen seem to strongly focus on the nose.
This idea would be for a more catwalk look although instead I would pull all of the hair back into a high ponytail to take the focus away from the hair & makeup. I think the makeup on the face would be good for catwalk.
Hmmmmmm
I attacked my i-D magazine with a black biro and free-handed tribal patterns and shapes which I had found on the fabrics and jewellry of the tribes I have reseached.
Now I have a couple of models which I have asked to do trials on but will any of them be up for bearing all?… Well maybe I will have to compromise by saying I will cover their nipples with something HA
BODY ART IN UNI
BODY ART IN UNI
I thought I'd add this extra bit in because after drawing on all my magazines, the morning after I was in university and my technical lesson was putting magazine images/images onto the skin! The images below is the end product of me creating a jessie j figure onto Jess' arm.
You have to use a magazine which isn't very thick - almost in between a magazine and a newspaper like the TV guide kind of paper. Then you use nail varnish remover (which has acetone inside) to print the image onto your skin.
I went over my image which Kryolan's supra colour palette creating more of a 3D effect making it look a bit more exciting.
Could I use this technique in order to create my body art...
